Tim Ho Wan

What do you get when you combine one Michelin Star, Yum Cha and reasonable prices?  A line down the block.  Don’t let this discourage you.  To Ho Wan is worth the wait and if you plan correctly you can just walk right in!

Tim Ho Wan is Melbourne’s newest Chinese Yum Cha restaurant located in the CBD.  The restaurant’s philosophy is on the freshest ingredients made with care and attention to detail.  Their aim is to provide an exceptional experience at prices that everyone can afford.

So have they accomplished this?  Yes!  This is one of the best Yum Cha meals I have ever had.  Delicate flavours and textures which are visually appealing which ends up being a rotation of delicious.

I would highly recommend the restaurant for any Yum Cha Lovers.  Some stand outs and must tries are: baked bun with BBQ pork, pork dumpling with shrimp, wasabi salad prawn dumpling, beancurd skin roll with pork and shrimp.  The best dish and one you can not pass up was the steamed egg cake!

Timing is everything if you want to avoid the lines so arriving before noon, late afternoon or after the dinner rush is perfect.  If you are a weekend diner try Sunday night after eight, you should just breeze in!

Tim Ho Wan is located at 206 Bourke Street in the city and is open seven days from 10am to 10pm.  Strictly no reservations!
