One of my favourite restaurant bar combos in Melbourne is Bomba restaurant and rooftop bar. This place is loaded with character and is an easy going fun place to hang out with friends while having great drinks and delicious food.
The concept behind Bomba is a ‘Spanish workers bar’. It’s fashioned after exactly what you would find in Spain, a relaxed atmosphere creating a fun place to hang out with friends. Drinks are served with a Spanish tapas style sharing menu which offers a good variety of choice that will suit most tastes. Bomba serves some of the best tapas in town and is definitely worth a try.
Downstairs you will find the restaurant, alway buzzing with a long bar for those who just want a casual drink and a snack. The restaurant also has table seating which provides diners a chance to really explore the sharing menu with friends, which is exactly what the restaurant is all about. One of the best features of Bomba is the take away coffee window located in the lane-way at the side of the restaurant. You can’t get more Melbourne than this; great coffee served lane-way style!
Upstairs is the rooftop bar, my favourite in the city. The bartenders are some of the best in town and the cocktail list is substantial with a good variety and plenty of house specialties. Of course there is also a great selection of beer and wine to pair with the more limited snack menu that is served upstairs. It’s prepared from the rooftop bar’s kitchen ensuring your selections are fresh.
My tip is to start downstairs for some food and wine and then move upstairs for cocktails.
Bomba is open for lunch Monday to Friday from 12pm to 3pm and for dinner 7 days from 5pm to 11pm. Bomba rooftop is open Saturday to Thursday 3pm to late and Friday noon to late.
