Recently I attended a conference in Singapore. It was my first trip to Singapore since 2001 and I was delighted and surprised by the transformation of the modern, safe and beautiful garden city. There is a huge variety of things to do in Singapore with great shopping, restaurants, amazing architecture and of course the new Marina Bay Sands complex with its hotel, casino and Gardens by the Bay.
Singapore is cosmopolitan, safe, clean and efficient city. Singaporeans are some of the friendliest people in the world and my guide for most of my adventures in Singapore was Xavier Kok from the new So Hotel, Singapore. Xavier along with his counterparts from Les Clefs d’Or Singapore were the consummate host and they typify the generosity of spirit of this wonderful city.
While visiting I spent time in the crowded and fun Chinatown District filled with shops, restaurants bars and cafes. I had a personal tour of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel from my compatriot Guido Greiert. Guido was so kind and gave me a VIP tour of the hotel, pool area located on the 55th floor as well as the food and beverage facilities this impressive hotel offers. The members of Les Clefs d’Or Singapore took me out for a wonderful dinner at the famous Banana Leaf Apolo Restaurant in Little India. The food was amazing but the generosity of spirit and friendship of these wonderful people is what I will remember most.
When visiting Singapore I suggest you seek out a hotel with a Les Clefs d’Or Concierge in order to ensure that you make the most of your business or pleasure trip to Singapore. Your Les Clefs d’Or Singapore friends will ensure you get the most out of your visit to Singapore.
We stayed at the brand new Holiday Inn Express Clarke Quay in the Clarke Quay river district. This brand new hotel was beautiful with garden restaurant, comfortable rooms and even a rooftop pool. The service and friendliness of the staff ensured our conference was successful. For a great value I would highly recommend this hotel.
