Gimlet at Cavendish House

After a long covid-hiatus I am back and so is the super elegant Gimlet at Cavendish House by Andrew McConnell.  This is Andrew’s newest restaurant and bar on Flinders Lane at Russell Street.

Much like my return to the concierge world, Gimlet is a buzz with excitement.  The restaurant’s staff are clearly doing what they love, delivering their patrons Melbourne’s world famous hospitality.  What a delight it was to enjoy lunch with a friend, life’s simple pleasure no longer taken for granted.

Gimlet is a swanky Euro style bistro featuring bar seating, casual dining in the bar and a more elegant tiered dining room.  The ambiance is Euro chic without being stuffy or formal.   Perfect for a business, a friendly get together, a special night out, or just a drink and nibbles at the bar.

There are three menus featuring bar menu, the a la carte menu and also an extravagant feed me menu.   One thing is for certain, you will be spoiled for choice.

One of my favorite things with Andrew’s restaurants is his love of vegetables and I was not disappointed.   I enjoyed several vegetarian dishes while my dining companion had a super delicious beef burger.  They even have a non-alcoholic drinks menu and menu pairing for anyone who is not drinking.

The service was delivered by a friendly and knowledgeable team of professionals which perfectly complimented the experience.

Lunch could not have been more perfect.   Make sure you drop by for a drink, a snack or for that special lunch or dinner.  You won’t be disappointed.   My tip – eat your  veggies.

Gimlet is open Tuesday to Saturday noon to late.

You will find Gimlet at 33 Russell Street, Melbourne and you can contact them on 03 9277 9777 or
